Call someone you haven't called in a while

..like your mom, or your cousin, or someone you love. It's not that hard, ever heard of Skype? I'm not a big phone person honestly, but at Christmas, I force myself.

Give a gift

It feels good to give. Here are my best gift suggestions (being a tech geek). The iphone is simply the best phone out there (with an Android phone coming up second). It's the first real smartphone. Looking for a laptop? There's only one choice: the Macbook Air 13 (or 11 inch). All computers will be like this one day. Similarly, the iPad is where it's at - it's the future. For a cheaper e-Reader, the Kindle (without ads) is nice (this is the cheapest Kindle, still the best, the eInk display is great for long term reading). The Kindle Fire is cheap relative to the iPad, but I don't think it's there yet, although it will play movies and Angry Birds - and it will get better with time. Cameras: the Panasonic Lumix is fantastic, better than the also good Canons. Toys? Legos. Bigger toys? Dewalt. Microsoft's Kinect for XBOX, pretty awesome. Finally, the best gifts, books: Steve Jobs: Walter Isaacson, George Washington: A Life by Ron Chernow. And the awesomest fan/heater ever made (seriously, it is worth the money). For all else, Amazon

Listen to some holiday music and/or watch a XMAS movie

We love, love, love christmas music. It can be really beautiful. A mix of liturgical music and joy. Here are some of my all time favorites: Christmas with the Symphony Brass of Chicago, Christmas with the Pops. We are saps for Christmas movies too. Our must watch movies every year (so it's worth buying the DVD) are: A Christmas Story, Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, It's a Wonderful Life, Home Alone 1 & 2, A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott, The Grinch, also, Elf, Earnest Saves Christmas, Jingle All The Way, The Santa Clause, Frosty and Rudolph. Did we miss any good ones?
